Tissue Cryopreservation

The Komen Tissue Bank has started to process breast tissue samples through a cryopreservation method. We have a limited number of cryopreserved tissue samples that are being stored in liquid nitrogen (vapor phase).

We also have access to, in the lab of one of our collaborators, samples from 6 donors that have been cryopreserved and live cells have been regenerated through the ROCK inhibitor method. These samples are limited in number. Anyone interested in these samples will need to collaborate with our colleague who has grown these cells. The IU Simon Cancer Center lab in which these cells have been developed has 100% success rate from direct biopsies and ~70% success rate with cryopreserved biopsies in creating live cells using the reprogramming assay.

If you are interested in either of these types of samples, please contact our COO, Jill Henry for more information.
